Semarang, September 24, 2025 – The Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) led a delegation in signing strategic cooperation agreements with Nansei Rakuen Resort and Seawood Hotel in Miyakojima on September 17, 2025, as well as with Gifu Seki Country Golf Club in Gifu, Nagoya on September 19, 2025. The delegation was headed by the Dean of the Vocational School, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, accompanied by the Head of the Applied Foreign Languages Program, Sri Wahyu Istana Trahutami, S.S., M.Hum. The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, S.S., M.Hum., also participated, along with Budi Mulyadi, S.Pd., M.Hum., Lecturer of Japanese Language and Culture, who supported both the cooperation and monitoring agenda.
The agreements cover student internship placements and the preparation of graduates who have completed their internships to work professionally in Japan. Each year, more than 100 UNDIP students join internship programs in Japan, coming from the Vocational School, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, and other faculties. Through these agreements, UNDIP aims to produce graduates ready to pursue careers, particularly in Japan. This initiative aligns with UNDIP’s target of entering the Top 500 QS World University Rankings by 2026 and supports the implementation of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation No. 39 of 2025 on Higher Education Quality Assurance.
Dean of the Vocational School, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si., emphasized that this cooperation is part of UNDIP’s effort to prepare graduates with global competitiveness. “This collaboration in Japan reflects UNDIP’s strong commitment to preparing graduates who are not only nationally competitive but also internationally competitive through cross-country teaching factories, micro-credential programs, and international community engagement,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Prof. Alamsyah highlighted the importance of language proficiency and cultural understanding. “Mastery of the Japanese language and work culture enables UNDIP students to be more confident, adapt quickly, and gain recognition in the industry. A one-year internship experience serves as a golden bridge toward global career readiness,” he affirmed.
This visit also followed up on UNDIP’s collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry for the Protection of Migrant Workers (KPPMI) in establishing the UNDIP Migrant Center (UMC). Given the high demand for Indonesian workers in Japan, UNDIP plays a strategic role in preparing human resources that are excellent, dignified, and beneficial for the nation. The signing of these agreements underscores the strategic role of the UNDIP Vocational School in producing competent graduates who are ready to compete professionally at the global level.
