Semarang, September 12, 2025 – Two students from the Naval Architecture Engineering Technology (TRKP) Program, Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Muhammad Rafif Harvani and Gading Dandi Sugianto (class of 2023), successfully gained industrial exposure through an independent internship at PT Pertamina EP Jatibarang Field, RAM Offshore Division. The program took place from July 17 to August 18, 2025, at the Offshore Platform X-Ray Area, PT Pertamina EP Jatibarang Field, Zone 7, Indramayu, West Java.
The independent internship is part of vocational education designed to provide students with real-world industry experience. The TRKP Program at UNDIP Vocational School focuses on vocational training in the field of naval architecture, aiming to produce competitive and professional graduates for the global maritime industry. The opportunity to intern at Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned energy company, served as a strategic platform for students to develop skills and apply classroom knowledge in a real industrial environment.
During the internship, students were directly involved in a variety of offshore technical activities, including observing the pigging process on subsea pipelines, evaluating crane pedestal maintenance and inspections, and analyzing the optimization of AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply) vessel usage to support lifting and logistics operations.
Dr. Zulfaidah Ariany, S.T., M.T., internship supervisor, explained that the program’s main objective was to provide students with practical understanding of operational systems and equipment maintenance in offshore oil and gas production facilities.
In line with this, Muhammad Rafif shared that the internship allowed him to gain hands-on experience in understanding technical procedures for inspection and maintenance of offshore equipment. Meanwhile, Gading Dandi emphasized that the internship also strengthened his understanding of HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) standards and the principles of operational efficiency in the upstream oil and gas industry.
This achievement demonstrates UNDIP Vocational School’s strong commitment to preparing students to compete in the professional industrial world.
